Bangladesh looks to facilitate remittances


The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Planning Ministry has recommended the government should introduce an internet and m-banking system to facilitate expatriate Bangladeshi workers sending remittances home.

In a meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Bangladesh’s National Assembly Building, the committee urged taking steps to send workers abroad at low cost, and to allow workers to collects visas from embassies.

The chairman of the committee, Dr Oli Ahmed, presided over the meeting while members Planning Minister Air Vice-marshal AK Khandakar, Azizul Haq Chowdhury, ANM Shamsul Islam were present, among others.
