eServGlobal has announced a new connection for the HomeSend remittance service between its strategic business partner BICS and eSewa, the local online payment portal offered by F1 Soft in Nepal.

F1 Soft’s eSewa service is connected to more than 23 Nepalese banks and seven remittance hubs. eSewa facilitates payments across the country through more than 4,000 outlets. Services include utility bill payments, prepaid cards and bank deposits via both mobile and the web.

Through Homesend eSewa will be able to offer remittance services in Nepal. Nepal derives 24% of national GDP from international remittance. In 2010, Qatar sent an estimated $1.125 billion in remittances to Nepal. A further $961 million was received from senders residing in India. The corridor to Nepal is expected to go live before the end of 2011.
