Banks and financial institutions should quit viewing mobile as just another customer channel and wake up to its potential to generate significant new revenues. This is the message that Mobey Forum will carry to mobile banking and financial services professionals attending its second annual MobeyDay event, to be held in Barcelona on 11 June.
Hosted by CaixaBank and organised by Mobey Forum, the global bank-driven industry association working to accelerate the evolution and adoption of mobile financial services (MFS), MobeyDay brings together thought leaders from banks, financial institutions, together with mobile technology and related service providers, in a full programme of keynote and panel discussions exploring how the global financial services sector can Monetise the Mobile.
Sirpa Nordlund, Executive Director of Mobey Forum, explains: Many financial institutions still do not appreciate the revenue generating power offered by the mobile channel. As the mobile financial services ecosystem evolves and consumers demand more sophisticated and valuable financial services for their smart phones and devices, banks that fail to keep up are likely to fall behind the powerful and innovative new players that are entering this space.
MobeyDay 2013 is about delivering a wakeup call. The low-hanging fruit has not yet been picked; we want to ensure that banks and financial institutions are fully aware of the channels potential and work with them to leverage their strengths in the mobile financial services ecosystem.
Given the success of our quarterly member only events, the next step for us was to open our ranks to the whole mobile financial services ecosystem; this led to last years launch of MobeyDay, adds Nordlund.
