NFC OTA provisioning software for commercial deployments

ViVOtech has announced the general availability of its flagship NFC infrastructure software, ViVOnfc Suite 2.8, on the Solaris 10 Operating System and Sun Microsystems hardware for large-scale commercial deployments. The solution is designed to help NFC service providers move from pilots and trials to commercial launches targeting millions of users.

ViVOtech has been working with Sun Microsystems to bring a scalable solution for NFC mobile payment and promotions to market. The result is ViVOnfc Suite 2.8 – a solution that includes NFC wallet and OTA card provisioning software. The suite enables the entire ecosystem of MNO’s, Trusted Service Managers (TSM), card issuers, merchants, and marketing services companies to securely provision and manage payment cards, coupons and tickets on NFC-enabled handsets.

‘Sun provides a proven platform to enable the deployment of NFC mobile payment and promotions for large-scale commercial deployments,’ explains Ambreesh Khanna, global head of financial services , Sun Microsystems. ‘By joining our technology with the ViVOtech mobile payment solution, we are further extending our reach in the fast-growing mobile commerce market.’

ViVOnfc 2.8’s dual server architecture ensures that issuers will maintain the security of their card data and leverage the widest possible reach over the mobile carrier network. Card issuers, merchants, and transit operators are now able to extend their brand image and online services to their customers’ mobile devices.

Simultaneously, mobile carriers are able to deploy highly scalable and reliable infrastructure to support payment, promotion, and ticketing applications for their subscriber base. With ViVOtech’s OTA technology, merchants are able to drive personalized and localized marketing campaigns to gain strong customer loyalty and increased revenues. Additionally, retailers will also be able to offer various service discovery applications like smart posters, product information tags, and offer tags for their customers.

‘We are delighted to bring ViVOnfc 2.8 to market on Sun’s commercial-grade software and hardware platforms, which will enable upcoming roll-out of limited to large-scale production-grade NFC deployments,’ comments Mohammad Khan, president, ViVOtech. ‘ViVOnfc software has been ruggedized and enriched through dozens of NFC mobile payment pilots, which have been successfully completed in multiple countries, working with most of the ecosystem players.’
